HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY MAN CLAIMS $1 MILLION TALLAHASSEE -- The Florida Lottery announced today that MEGA MONEY™ winner Clarence Hammock, 60, of Brandon, claimed the $1 million MEGA MONEY jackpot drawn on March 5. Hammock chose the one-time, lump-sum payment option for his winnings in the amount of $701,172.92. The winning MEGA MONEY ticket was purchased at Publix, located at 11255 Causeway Boulevard in Brandon. The retailer received a bonus incentive of $1,000.00 for selling the jackpot-winning ticket. The winning numbers were: 09 - 10 - 18 - 40 and the MEGABALL® was 05 Mrs. Hammock, who accompanied her husband to claim the winning ticket, said that on the night of the drawing they were out celebrating her birthday with friends. "I remember sitting at the dinner table and telling our friends how Clarence plays the same numbers and we never win. I would always tell him that he needs to change the numbers around. Good thing he didn't listen to me." The Hammocks said they do not have any specific plans for their winnings yet and that they are truly blessed. Total ticket sales for this jackpot generated more than $1 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF). Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $20 billion to the EETF, benefiting our students and schools, as well as funding more than one million Bright Futures scholarships. By a two-to-one margin, Florida voters in 1986 approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education.
